This set suits the guy who cannot settle on one scent, and the giver who does not know his taste. The vials cover Aventus, Silver Mountain Water, Millésime Impérial, Green Irish Tweed and Original Vetiver. He tries them, picks one and buys the bottle himself.
The trade-off is size. Five 1.7 ml vials add up to 8.5 ml, which is a handful of wears per scent. It works as a tasting flight or a stocking gift. It does not replace a full bottle.

Hugo Man is a fresh, fougère-style scent built on green apple and fir balsam, with herbal and woody notes underneath. That makes it a low-risk choice for a guy who wears fragrance daily and wants to smell clean at the office.
The set covers a whole routine. Eau de toilette is lighter than parfum, so plan on reapplying, and retailer reviewers report softer projection in cold weather. The shower gel is small, so treat it as a bonus.

This is the largest parfum in the group and the only set with a pocket-size spray for touch-ups. Parfum is the strongest concentration on this page, so a few sprays go a long way.

I started with the men's gift sets in Amazon's premium beauty department and the sets that holiday gift guides keep recommending. I kept only sets sold by Amazon or by the brand itself. I based the picks on listing specs, maker and retailer notes, and patterns in what fragrance fans write about each scent. I haven't worn or smelled any of them.
It is the share of fragrance oil in the bottle. Parfum has the most, eau de parfum sits in the middle and eau de toilette has the least. More oil usually means a stronger scent and longer wear. Makers set their own strengths, so check the label.
Two or three sprays is a common starting point for eau de toilette. Parfum is stronger, so one or two is enough. Spray the chest or neck and do not rub the spot afterward. Skip broken or irritated skin, and stop using a fragrance if a rash appears.
Check the Sold by line on the listing before you buy. The three sets here are sold by Amazon or by the brand itself. The Le Labo listing I checked came from a marketplace seller, and I could not confirm an authorized seller for the Kurkdjian sets, so I left both houses out.
